tuenews INTERNATIONAL publishes two to five news items every day. These appear online at www.tuenews.de and on social media in Arabic, Persian, Ukrainian, English and German. A team of 28 (as of the end of 2024) authors and coaches research, write and translate each article themselves. Our aim is to find relevant topics for our target groups ourselves. Mini-jobbers from several countries of origin contribute the questions and topics they have heard or experienced in their environment. Professional journalists working on a voluntary basis conduct research with authors from the countries of origin and ensure journalistic quality.
We want to provide people who are integrating in Germany with relevant information to help them cope with their everyday lives and for the integration discourse. At the same time, we attach great importance to conducting our own in-depth research into primary sources, naming them and following classic journalistic principles in other respects. We refrain from opinion journalism throughout.
In 2023, we produced and published 1230 articles, with each language variant accounting for around one fifth. Until 2022, we recorded “click counts”, which, however, only allowed limited conclusions to be drawn about the number of users and usage processes, as clicks are very unspecific. The number of clicks in 2022 amounted to around 5 million. We also disseminate the news via five Facebook and Instagram channels in the respective languages. In addition, the Integreat app (www.integreat-app.de) distributes nationally relevant articles from tünews INTERNATIONAL via the websites of currently 34 (end of 2024) districts and cities throughout Germany. These range from Castrop-Rauxel in the Ruhr area to the district of Starnberg in Bavaria, from the district of Viersen to the district of Elbe-Elster in Lusatia. Major cities such as Augsburg, Dortmund and Mannheim are also included. One focus is on Baden-Württemberg.
tuenews INTERNATIONAL was founded in 2015 by the district administration of Tübingen. Since then, the district of Tübingen has made tuenews INTERNATIONAL’s work possible through annual grants. Originally published by the KulturGUT im Landkreis Tübingen e.V. association, tuenews INTERNATIONAL was taken over by the non-profit company tünews INTERNATIONAL (haftungsbeschränkt) in 2022. Its main shareholder is KulturGUT im Landkreis Tübingen e.V.
