From next year, mini-jobbers will be able to earn more money without having to pay taxes and most social security contributions. The earnings limit will rise from €556 to €603 on January 1 and to €633 on January 1, 2027. This is stated in the Federal Gazette.
The reason for this is the higher minimum wage, which will apply from January 1, 2026. It will rise from €12.82 to €13.90 and to €14.60 in 2027. Because the minimum wage also applies to mini-jobs, every increase affects the earnings limit.
Mini-jobbers generally have the same employment rights as other employees—this means they are entitled to vacation and continued pay if they fall ill. Comprehensive information on this can be found on the Minijob-Zentrale website.
