Fuel taxes reduced until year-end

From 1 October to 31 December 2026, the tax on petrol and diesel will be reduced in Germany. According to the German Federal Government, including the lower VAT, this results in savings of around 17 cents per litre of fuel.
The tax cut is expected to be reflected directly in fuel prices at petrol stations. However, this does not mean that petrol and diesel will immediately become 17 cents cheaper per litre everywhere. The final price depends on how much companies reduce prices for consumers. Crude oil prices and transport costs also affect fuel prices. It therefore still makes sense to compare prices at different petrol stations.
