Information for parents about school and education

What is the difference between a vocational school and a comprehensive school? What does it mean to do an “apprenticeship”? And why does my child have to change schools after four years of elementary school? Parents who come from another country have many questions. Answers about the school system and education in Germany will be provided on January 29 at 6 p.m. at the B3 Center for Education, Counseling, and Encounter in Rottenburg (Tübinger Straße 70/Room E 006).
The event, organized by the Rottenburg Adult Education Center and the district of Tübingen, is aimed primarily at immigrant and refugee parents with school-age children. They will receive an overview of the school system in Baden-Württemberg and learn about the different school-leaving qualifications and how to obtain them. In addition, the German vocational training system with apprenticeships and vocational schools will be presented. Interpreters for English, Arabic, and Ukrainian will be present. Other languages can be requested.
Information is available by phone (07071-207 6164) or email (ruem@kreis-tuebingen.de). Registration is not required.
