Anyone with a Kreisbonuscard (KBC) or KBC extra can apply for support for balcony photovoltaic systems in Tübingen. The university town subsidises these systems by up to 75 per cent. According to the city, this is intended, amongst other things, to ease the burden of rising energy costs on low-income households and to strengthen climate protection.
The maximum grant is 800 euros per flat
These so-called ‘balcony power plants’ generate electricity for the flat. They are compact and straightforward to install, making them particularly suitable for tenants or owners of flats in the Tübingen city area who do not have a large roof area available. Up to 75 per cent of the purchase costs can be subsidised – up to a maximum of 800 euros per flat.
Landlords must consent to the installation
Landlords must give their consent before a balcony solar system can be installed. This is what the city stated in response to an enquiry from tuenews INTERNATIONAL. However, this consent does not need to be submitted with the application.
Liability for damage: Check with your insurer
Do tenants need to take out special insurance to be covered, for example, in the event of a fire involving the system? The press office advises checking with your own insurer before installation to see whether the system is explicitly covered. Research by tuenews has shown that, for specific claims, either home contents insurance, personal liability insurance or building insurance will cover the costs.
