Making children’s wishes come true

Children have wishes. But some families on a tight budget are unable to fulfil them. That is why the ‘Wunschbaum’ campaign has been running in the Tübingen district for years. Until Saturday 31 October, children and young people can let us know what they would like. The gift should cost no more than 30 euros.
The initiative to combat child poverty was launched by the Tübingen Youth Council in 2008. They set up a tree decorated with children’s wishes on Tübingen’s market square. At that time, 88 wishes from children and young people were fulfilled. The ‘Wunschbaum’ association has been in existence since 2011. Since then, it has brought joy to countless children.

Who is eligible to take part in the campaign

Children and young people from families in the Tübingen district who hold a KreisBonus card, a ‘Bedarfsgemeinschaft’ number or an ‘Bildungs- und Teilhabe’-card can submit their wishes online. This can be done in many languages – including Arabic, Persian and Ukrainian. Only one wish per child is permitted. According to the Wunschbaum campaign, vouchers, electronics, bicycles and pets are excluded. For clothes and shoes, a size must be specified.
