Temporary workers will receive more money starting next year. On January 1, 2026, wages will initially rise by 2.99 percent, according to the German Trade Union Confederation. On September 1, 2026, there will be a further increase of 2.5 percent, and on April 1, 2027, wages will be increased again by 3.5 percent. The DGB collective bargaining association for temporary work has thus negotiated with the General Association of Personnel Service Providers (GVP) that around 650,000 temporary workers will receive a total wage increase of around 9 percent. The new collective wage agreement will run for two years from October and, according to the union, affects 90 percent of temporary workers.
Temporary workers are employed by temporary employment agencies. However, they are deployed in other companies, which pay the temporary employment agency for their services. Since March 1, the minimum wage has been €14.53 per hour.
The collective agreement for temporary work specifies the earnings of employees and regulates vacation, vacation pay, and Christmas bonuses. The collective agreement applies to all temporary workers employed by an employer who is a member of the Gesamtverband der Personaldienstleister e. V. (GVP) (General Association of Personnel Service Providers).
