Since September, there has been a dedicated mailbox for letters addressed to the Immigration Office at the Tübingen District Office. All documents requested by the office can be deposited here instead of being handed in personally to a staff member. This was announced by the District Office. The mailbox is located at Wilhelm-Keil-Straße 50 in Building A on Level 1, in front of the Immigration Office, directly above the foyer at the main entrance. It is labeled “Immigration Office Mailbox” and is emptied daily during the week.
Drop Off Instead of Knocking
The new mailbox is intended to reduce the workload on case workers. “We set up the mailbox because our clients often don’t associate the ‘large’ mailbox in front of the main entrance with the Immigration Office and then want to hand in documents directly to the case workers. The idea is that, for example, documents for renewal can be dropped into ‘our’ mailbox without having to knock on the case officer’s door in person. Other correspondence that people wish to submit to the Immigration Office can also be dropped in,” says Jonas Winter, Head of the Immigration Law and Naturalization Division, in response to an inquiry from tuenews INTERNATIONAL.
Previously, there was a machine at this location that dispensed waiting numbers. The mailbox is accessible during the District Office’s business hours. In the evenings and on weekends, the main mailbox at the entrance remains available.
