Refugees from Ukraine will have their residence permits within the EU extended by another year. This was decided by the Conference of EU Interior Ministers in Luxembourg. It thus approved a proposal by the EU Commission. (European Council | Extension of Temporary Protection) Ukrainians can now remain in EU countries until March 4, 2027, without having to apply for asylum. This extends the previous regulations.
However, refugees from Ukraine who were already living in a third country with permanent or temporary residence status will no longer be able to enter Germany so easily since December 2024. (tun25012102) Details can be found online: BAMF | Changes for people seeking protection from Ukraine
Of the approximately four million Ukrainians who fled the war, Germany has taken in the most refugees, with 1.17 million. Poland follows with just under one million and the Czech Republic with 400,000.
