From August 18, batteries from e-scooters and e-bikes can also be returned to recycling centers free of charge. E-bike batteries could previously be handed in at bike stores, many electronics stores and larger DIY stores and supermarkets, as reported by the ebike24 portal.
However, it is still important not to dispose of batteries in household waste under any circumstances. Lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in e-bikes, can cause fires if disposed of with household waste.
