DB Regio is offering refugees and migrants with work permits free training to become electronics technicians in Stuttgart. However, interested parties must meet certain requirements. The program starts in August 2025.
Good educational background and ability to work under pressure
The program begins with three weeks of soft skills training and a one-month German language course. Interested parties must meet the following requirements: They must have a recognized (higher) school diploma or completed vocational training and at least B2 German language skills, be willing to work shifts, and be responsible, stress-resistant, and willing to learn. They must also live in Stuttgart or the surrounding area and be willing to work full-time, including shifts on weekends.
Prospect of a permanent job after retraining
After successfully completing the qualification program, DB Regio offers a 2.5-year retraining contract with the option of permanent employment if the retraining is also successfully completed. During the retraining, participants earn €36,000 per year, followed by a salary in line with the collective agreement and 30 days of vacation. There are also various benefits such as a company pension plan and capital-forming benefits. Successful graduates can work in the railway workshop, inspecting trains and repairing the electrical systems of vehicles, among other things.
