Fake parking tickets were left on cars at the Tübingen fairground—with three errors: There was no indication of which authority had issued the ticket. The ticket had an incorrect internet address. Most importantly, the money for the fine was to be transferred to a non-German account.
In a press release, the Tübingen city administration asks people to be vigilant about parking tickets and under no circumstances to transfer money to a foreign account. Anyone who finds a fake parking ticket on their windscreen should report it to the Tübingen police station by calling 07071 / 972-1400.
A letter reminds you of real “fines”
If you have doubts about the authenticity of a parking ticket, you can ignore it. If it is not fake, those affected will receive a letter in the post after about two weeks. This letter will state how much the fine costs. You can then transfer the money.
In addition, the municipal police authority can check whether the parking ticket is genuine. To do so, send an email to polizeibehorde@tuebingen.de. The identification number on the parking ticket must be included. Those affected can also call 07071 / 204-3600 to inquire.
Municipal parking tickets have a logo
Official Tübingen parking tickets look like this: They are white, have the city logo in the top left corner and a red bar underneath. On the back is a QR code and an identification number. This allows parking offenders to log in directly via the portal www.knoellchen-info.de/549. By entering the identification number and the car’s registration number, they can voluntarily pay directly online.
