Due to a warning strike by the trade union Verdi, there will be virtually no buses in Tübingen on Tuesday and Wednesday (February 11 and 12) from the morning until late at night. This was announced by Verdi and TüBus. Strikes are also possible at many public institutions on Tuesday. According to Verdi, city administration, public utilities, the district administration, some daycare centers, indoor swimming pools, waste collection, music schools, job centers and the employment agency will be affected in Tübingen. Employees in Ammerbuch and Ofterdingen have also been called to strike. On Tuesday at 10.30 a.m., there will be a rally on the market square in Tübingen with deputy Verdi district manager Maike Schollenberger.
As with the last warning strikes, an emergency agreement applies to bus services. A bus will run every 60 minutes on route 5 between the main station and the clinics. The first journey starts at 5.37 a.m. at the main station/ZOB The next buses always leave at minute 41. TüBus warns that it could get very crowded on these buses. In Tübingen city traffic, however, line 19, which is operated by RAB, will run as usual. “Passengers should ask the respective transport companies whether the regional bus routes are also affected by the strike,” advises TüBus.
The reason for the warning strikes is collective bargaining. The next round will take place on Thursday, February 13. Among other things, the union is demanding a nine percent increase in pay and an extra 100 euros a month for trainees.
