On 18 December, tuenews INTERNATIONAL celebrated its tenth anniversary at the Tübingen District Office. District Administrator Dr Hendrik Bednarz opened the evening and emphasised that tuenews was “the only institution of its kind in Germany”. He said he found this surprising, because what it does contributes greatly to integration and social cohesion. Bednarz said he was “also a little proud that we as a district support tuenews INTERNATIONAL with almost 180,000 euro every year. I believe this shows that we have to take action—and that it is right to provide money for specific purposes, in this case for integration.” Later in the evening, publisher Wolfgang Sannwald, Martin Klaus and Kerstin Markl from the office, coaches Ute Kaiser and Michael Seifert, and last but not least, authors Ademola Adetunji, Lobna Alhindi, Mostafa Elyasian, Youssef Kanjou, Oula Mahfous and Sahar Ahmadi looked back on 10 years of tuenews. Germany-wide media outlets such as ZDF, Deutschlandfunk, FAZ and dpa visited the editorial office, as did Baden-Württemberg’s Minister President Winfried Kretschmann and several ministers, as well as State Secretary Annette Widmann-Mauz. Salwa Saada represented tuenews at the Integration Award ceremony hosted by Chancellor Angela Merkel. Nataliia Yermelenko and Anastasiia Nesterova presented the newly designed language access features on the homepage, the Instagram channels and the tuenews app.
