A test to find the right school

Children aged between 10 and 15 who speak a language other than German and have limited knowledge of the language must take a placement test. The Tübingen State Education Authority will then find them a suitable place in a preparatory class. The placement test begins on Wednesday, 22 July, at 2 pm at the Hans-Küng-Gemeinschaftsschule in Tübingen (Westbahnhofstraße 27).

English, maths and possibly German

The aim of this test is to help the Education Authority determine which school is right for each child or young person. The school they attend should be as close as possible to the family’s home. The placement test covers English and maths, and for some, German language skills as well. Whilst the children and young people are taking the test, an accompanying adult fills in an enrolment form with important details and can ask any questions. Volunteer interpreters will be on hand.

From ID to pen: what to bring

Parents should bring a few things to the test: the child’s ID, a drink, a ballpoint pen, a pencil, a set square and an eraser. The test is due to finish at 4.45 pm. Parents can then collect their children.
It may take some time to find the right school. The school will then contact the parents.
