Some refugees who want to work in restaurants need a certificate from the public health department. Before that, they must have completed a training course for people who come into contact with food or clean items such as dishes. In this course, they learn how infectious diseases can be transmitted to others through food and how to prevent this. You can complete this “initial training under the Infection Protection Act” online and receive the certificate digitally. The training also lists diseases that disqualify you from working in the food sector. The fee is 28 euros.
Free for Volunteers
The training can also be completed in person at the local public health office (usually at the district administration office), which costs 33 euros. Anyone who needs the certificate because they are volunteering, participating in the Federal Volunteer Service (BuFDi) or the Federal Social Year (FSJ), or completing an internship does not have to pay anything.
To participate, you need a valid photo ID; for the online training, you can scan it. Before participating online, you must have created an account at www.service-bw.de. If you do not have one, you can create it during the setup process before the online training.
