Deutsche Bahn Reintroduces the Family Ticket

Deutsche Bahn will reintroduce the DB Family Ticket starting November 1, 2026. Tickets will go on sale as early as October 26. Due to high demand during the summer months, the Family Ticket will become a permanent part of Deutsche Bahn’s offerings in the future.

99.99 euros for a round trip

The ticket costs 99.99 euros for a round trip in second class on long-distance trains within Germany. A one-way trip costs 59.99 euros. A seat reservation is already included in the price.
The Family Ticket can be used by up to five people. Possible combinations include one adult with up to four children or two adults with up to three children. At least one child must be traveling with the group. The ticket is valid for a specific train connection. Additionally, the number of available tickets is limited so that families can sit together.

Free travel for children up to age 14

Deutsche Bahn also offers additional discounts for families: Children up to and including age 14 travel for free on long-distance trains when accompanied by a person aged 15 or older. Children between the ages of 6 and 14 who are traveling alone receive a 50 percent discount.
Special family areas and toddler compartments are available for families on many ICE trains. On select ICE routes, Deutsche Bahn also offers free entertainment for children.
