Driving license: Employment agency rarely pays

A driving license for a car can be quite expensive. The cost of a class B license is between 2,000 and 4,000 euros, the transport ministers of the federal states recently announced and called for driving licenses to be made cheaper. Some people hope that the job center or employment office will cover the costs if a driving license is a prerequisite for a new job. But this is the exception, as Thorsten Nebe, spokesman for the employment agency in the Reutlingen district, said when asked by tuenews INTERNATIONAL. But it is not ruled out. “Under certain conditions, the car driving license can be paid for by the job center or employment agency in rare individual cases,” says Nebe. He cites the example of an employer making a driving license a condition of employment. This is also conceivable in cases where the area of responsibility within the company changes and a driving license is required in the future or if the company relocates and a driving license and car are required for the journey.
However, this does not happen all too often. In the last two years, the job center and employment agency have each subsidized the cost of a driving license in ten cases. Advisors at the employment agency or job center can answer any questions.
