On Thursday, 10 September 2026, Germany will hold its nationwide Warning Day. From 11 a.m., a test warning will be sent out through various channels. These include the Cell Broadcast system on smartphones, warning apps such as NINA, radio and television. Municipalities may also use sirens, digital display boards or other local warning systems.
At around 11.45 a.m., an all-clear is expected to be issued. However, no all-clear message will be sent via Cell Broadcast.
Why is Warning Day held?
The nationwide Warning Day is intended to test the various warning systems in Germany and familiarise the public with the different ways of receiving warnings. At the same time, people can check whether warning messages reach their smartphones.
The test warning scheduled for 11 a.m. is part of the nationwide Warning Day and does not mean that there is an actual danger.
