Summer heat makes you thirsty—especially for plenty of water. Eventually, your bladder gets full. Tübingen offers a solution with 21 “friendly restrooms”: At participating restaurants, a gas station, the municipal office, and the youth hostel, you can use the restroom for free without having to buy anything.
Freely accessible during business hours
A city brochure lists 24 “friendly restrooms” in and around the city center. This brochure is available online or in print at the tourist office by the Neckar Bridge. The listed locations of the “friendly restrooms” range from the Esso gas station on Westbahnhofstraße to the Lieb cafés on Karlstraße and at Europaplatz. These “restrooms,” as they’re also called, are freely accessible during business hours. You don’t have to buy or order anything there to use the restroom.
Plus, four fee-based “restrooms”
There are also three “nice restrooms” outside the city center. They are located at the Hallenbad Nord in Waldhäuser Ost, at the TSG restaurant near the outdoor pool, and at the adult education center at Katharinenstraße 15. The four public restrooms, on the other hand, require a fee. They are located at Haagtorplatz, in front of City Hall on Marktplatz, on Clinicumsgasse near the church wall, and on Wöhrdstraße near the taxi stand.
