Every summer, fields and forests catch fire—sometimes due to barbecuing. To prevent this, Tübingen has closed most barbecue areas within the city limits. The heat and dry conditions are increasing the risk of fire. As soon as weather conditions improve and the fire risk subsides, the barbecue areas will be reopened.
Exercise Extra Caution at Open Facilities
The closure does not affect all sites. However, even where barbecuing is still permitted, it must be done with special caution. Fires may only be lit in the designated fire pits. After barbecuing, the fire and embers must be completely extinguished. The city states this in a press release. In addition, all trash must be taken with you. Under no circumstances may flammable materials be left behind at the barbecue site.
