Since the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine in 2022, about one million Ukrainians have fled to Germany. 190,000 live in Baden-Württemberg. Many have since found work.
In Baden-Württemberg, the number is nearly 55,000—that’s about 40 percent of Ukrainians of working age. However, not all of them are able to work. There are many reasons for this. This was revealed by an investigation by Südwestrundfunk (SWR):
