Swimming: Rules also apply in quarry ponds

You are allowed to swim in lakes – unless it is expressly forbidden. This is regulated by the Water Act in Baden-Württemberg. There is therefore nothing to stop you from swimming in the Kirchentellinsfurt quarry pond. The same applies to the quarry pond in Hirschau. Nevertheless, swimmers must abide by the rules. Parts of the banks of both lakes are nature reserves. In order to protect animals and plants, they may not be entered. Each lake also has its own regulations – these can usually be found on signs at the bathing areas. If you want to swim in a quarry pond, you must also be able to swim safely. The shore often slopes steeply and lifeguards are only at the lakes occasionally, if at all. You should therefore not go swimming under the influence of alcohol and parents must take extra care of children at lakes. The water quality of both lakes is regularly monitored by the health authorities and is considered good. There are other bathing lakes in the surrounding area, which can be found on the state’s bathing water map. badegewaesserkarte.landbw.de

Kirchentellinsfurt quarry pond
Swimming is only permitted on parts of the northern shore, where the small restaurant is located, everything else is considered a nature reserve. Dogs are not allowed on or in the lake, nude bathing (nudism) is prohibited everywhere. Visitors are only allowed to stay at the lake between 6 am and 10 pm. This also applies to the parking lot. If you enter the car park before 6 a.m. or after 10 p.m., you may have to pay a fine of 150 euros. You are allowed on the lake with your own SUP board, but there is no longer a rental service as of this year. Swimming is only officially permitted from the beginning of May to mid-September. Barbecues are only permitted at the official barbecue sites. There are toilets at the lake.

Hirschau quarry pond
The quarry pond in Hirschau has fewer restrictions. There are access points around the lake, but Hirschau also has nature conservation areas where swimming is prohibited. There are two nudist areas at the quarry pond. Swimming with and without clothing is permitted there. Dogs are not prohibited, but barbecues are not allowed. Since last year, there have been two emergency call pillars on the eastern and western shores. Because exhibitionists kept hanging around the quarry pond, there have also been four signs with the inscription since last year: Hands off – no photos.
