Ukrainian Photographer Exhibits in Tübingen

Photos by Ukrainian photographer Tetiana Brostovich are on display at the Tübingen City Library (Nonnengasse 19) through September 30. The exhibition aims to showcase the diversity of Ukrainian culture. It focuses on traditional women’s costumes from various regions of Ukraine. The photographs feature a variety of colors, ornaments, jewelry, and headdresses. Brostovich is originally from Dnipro and lives in Reutlingen, where she works as a fashion and advertising photographer.
“Historical and political influences have simplified and standardized the image of Ukrainian culture over many decades,” the invitation states. The exhibition highlights how differently traditions have been lived and shaped in individual regions. “It offers a nuanced perspective on Ukrainian history, identity, and the country’s cultural memory,” it continues.
The exhibition is organized with the support of Khrystyna Didyk and the Ukrainian Association of Tübingen. It is aimed both at people who would like to learn more about Ukrainian culture and at Ukrainians who wish to explore their cultural heritage.
The main branch of the city library will remain open during the summer break from Tuesday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
