Warning: Scam involving purported calls from PayPal

When you answer the call, you hear a recorded message. It claims that a payment has been initiated on your PayPal account. If you then press the ‘1’ key, you’ll fall into the hands of criminals.
The Federal Network Agency has issued an explicit warning about these fraudulent automated phone calls. Their aim is to trick victims into revealing sensitive personal data by pressing certain keys. This information can then be used to carry out further fraudulent activities. Often, manipulated or seemingly legitimate foreign phone numbers are displayed.
It is recommended that you end the call immediately. If you do not do so, you should under no circumstances press any buttons or disclose personal data.
